Upon uttering some ancient words of power, a magic item in your hands becomes bound to you. You can continue using the item normally. However, if a creature with blood different to yours touches the item, it triggers the spell and deafening lightning and thunder erupts from the magic item, striking the thief as its target. The target must then make a Constitiution check opposed by your Intelligence check with advantage for the ownership of the weapon. On a failed saving throw, the wannabe thief takes 4d10 lightning damage and is paralyzed for one turn. On a successful save, the target takes half as much lightning damage and does not become paralyzed. The spell ends on a successful save but continues functioning normally otherwise, becoming active once per turn in combat as long as somebody other than the rightful owner is touching it.

This spell does not alter any of the original properties of the item.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you may use an extra spell level to either increase the number of items you enchant by 1 for every extra spell level, or expend an extra spell level to allow enchantment of non-magical items.
