Created by the Reborn Necromancer Octavius Blight this spell seeks to give a shadow of the power over life and death normally reserved for the divine, to the arcane. You touch a creature that has died within the last three days. That creature returns to a semblance of life with 1 hit point. This spell can't restore any missing body parts but will restore functionality if sewn on appropriately before casting. A creature so resurrected comes back as a one of the Reborn Lineage found in Van Richtens Guide to Ravenloft. If the spell is cast on the first day of death, decomposition occurs for one week. If cast on the second day, roll 1d4. If cast on the third day roll 2d4, the resulting number is the weeks of decomposition.
If cast at 5th level, the time in which you can raise the dead is increased to ten days. At six level, up to six months. At seventh up to a year. At 8th, a decade. At 9th, a century. Casting this spell to restore life to a creature that has been dead for one year or longer taxes you greatly. Until you finish a long rest, you can't cast spells again and you have disadvantage on all attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws. * - (diamonds worth 400 gp plus 100gp in diamonds for every spell level above 4th, which the spell consumes.)
