You clutch two coins in your hand and point a finger at the target, marking it for death. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. If the attack hits, the target takes 2d6 necrotic damage and (unless it is a construct or undead) it becomes marked. If a marked creature dies within the next 1 minute and you have at least 1 hit point, you regain 2 hit points.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 1st level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 and hit points regained increases by 2 for each spell slot level above 1st.

Death for Life. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, you may chose to take necrotic damage equal to four times the spell level. This damage may not be reduced in any way. If you do, you ignore the requirement to have at least 1 hit point to recover hit points when the marked creature dies.
