Note: the component cost here refers to how much the components might sell for as decorative items in a market. It doesn't need to be brought and can be created by the spellcaster or their allies, where the only expenses might be the cost of the initial paper or parchment.

You sweep over the material components used in this spell's casting and animate them. The component uses either the stat block for the Paper Bird or a Swarm of Books, at the DM's discretion. The DM can also decide whether the construct deals piercing or slashing damage, depending on its form.

An extremely large amount of components might be represented by additional Swarms, or you may wish to command several components separately. For each additional individual entity beyond three you animate, increase the DC for maintaining concentration by 1.

You can mentally or verbally command the construct to take actions, such as attack or to guard a particular door. If no commands are given, the components only take the Disengage or Dodge actions. If you lose your concentration or move any construct outside of the spell's range, the spell ends.

At higher levels - When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, each slot increases the spell's range by 10ft and reduces the DC for maintaining concentration by 1.

The wizard slowly raises his hand, and a faint rustling begins. It grows louder and louder, until all that can be heard is the cascade of origami swarming and swirling into the room.
