It allows you to take on the burdens (physical and mental) of others. In doing so, you are able to temporarily increase the targets' combat abilities. It is limited to work only on people you have an emotional connection to. You are also able to sense them, seeing people as points of light and can further use this to derive relative positions of everyone you sense, as well as their emotional states. Chosen allies get advantage on athletic, acrobatics, wisdom saving throws, and strength ability checks. You take psychic damage equivalent to half of chosen allies' damage taken. If they do an action that requires an athletics, acrobatics, or strength check and they have more points than you, take psychic damage equivalent to the missing points.
