When you or a creature you can see within 5ft of you takes magical damage, use your reaction to reduce the damage by 1d4 and absorb it into your weapon/spellcasting focus.
The next time you attack (weapon) or cast a cantrip/spell (spellcasting focus) add this damage in the appropriate elemental type to a hit, but receive the damage yourself if you miss. This effect does not apply to spells that require a save.
At the end of your turn if you have not dispelled the absorbed damage by other means, you take the damage and the spell ends.
The dice used for this cantrip increases when you reach 5th level (d6), 11th level (d8), and 17th level (d10)
