The user's blood is extracted from their body in a large quantity when casting this spell. It then forms a bear trap-like shape under the intended target and repeatedly mashes them to death.
The use of this spell has the unfortunate side effect of seriously wounding its own caster. Each time the bear trap bites down on the target, it deals 100 piercing damage to the target, and grants 1 level of exhaustion to the caster. The trap will continue to bite until either the target is dead, or the caster reaches 6 levels of exhaustion and dies
If the caster dies, the trap collapses into the ground, leaving the target with however many hit points they have left. The caster can not be resurrected by any means.
If the caster survives, they are immediately reduced to 1 hit point and fall unconscious for 3 days. During that time, any levels of exhaustion that they received from the attack are removed. Additionally, the caster is placed under a curse that reduces their maximum hit points to 1 quarter of their original amount, and leaves them rolling with disadvantage on every roll they make.
The curse can only be removed by one of two ways: First, the caster can spend 2 additional days soaking their body in holy water. Second, a wish spell.
