As a part of casting this spell, you unstopper and pour out the vial of quicksilver which represents the spell’s material component. You cause the volatile liquid metal to animate, forming an amorphous hemispherical barrier that protects you from projectiles.
The barrier protects from all directions, reshaping itself as needed. Similarly, the barrier reshapes itself so that you may look and attack through it as necessary.
For the spell’s duration, whenever you would be hit by a non-magical ranged weapon attack, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d12. If the damage is reduced to 0 in this way, the attack is instead deflected harmlessly. The spell ends once barrier has deflected a total of 30 points of damage.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the amount of damage it can reduce before dissipating increases by 10. Additionally, the duration increases to 10 minutes when cast using a spell slot of 4th-level or higher, and up to 1 hour when cast using a spell slot of 6th level or higher.
