Chains of pure chaos energy break through the ground and violently bind themselves to a target of your choosing. A target must succeed a strength saving throw or be restrained.
While restrained by this spell, the target takes 2d6 necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns. A creature restrained by the chains, or one that can touch the creature can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, the the chains are broken and the creature is free.
- If a creature is killed while restrained with the chains, its soul is torn to the Abyss.
- The damage of this spell increases by 1d6 for each Wizard level above 3rd.
- If you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4nd level or higher, 1 additional chain that has to target a new creature at slot levels 5, 7, and 9. If there is no additional creature to target, you cannot upcast this spell.
