Sparks of life give newfound strength to fight against death. Choose a creature you can see within range that has 0 HP, is unconscious or has recently died within the last minute. The creature gains 1 temporal HP, regains consciousness, can act as normal and is immune to all types of damage until end of the caster's next turn.
At the end of the caster's next turn, if the target creature has not recovered any hit points, the creature falls unconscious again and all temporal hit points the creature had are lost. If the target creature recently died, at the end of the caster's next turn the creature becomes dead again. The lifespan of the target creature is then reduced by one year independently of the outcome.
Optionally, if the target creature goes down at the end of the caster's next turn, the target creature gains a lingering injury as described in the "Lingering Injuries" table (DMG pg 272).
The target creature can recover hit points as normal during the round, except if the creature previously died, in which case it cannot recover any hit points.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, you can target an additional creature for each slot level above 7th.
