On touch, you introduce your blood into the victim and bind their body against their will. Doing so requires complete concentration and an act of such horror may cause damage to your mind. The opponent may still act if you choose to do nothing. If this spell was cast as a ritual, you more thoroughly bind their blood and there are no outward signs of resistance including voluntary actions. You will still incur the same penalties regardless.
You may only cast this spell if the following conditions are met:
- You cast it using Crimson Exchange
- The target has no legendary resistance
- The target is at or below your level (if you choose the crimson exchange option to empower your spell, you may target enemies one level higher than you)
- The spell is cast as part of a melee weapon attack (unless cast as a ritual) that inflicts slashing or piercing damage
The target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a success, nothing happens. On a fail, the target is bound to your control until your concentration is broken. While concentrating on this spell, you can take no other actions (even movement), but you may still speak. Additionally all of your senses are that of the target.
At any point during the spell you may choose to do one of the following:
- Nothing
- Take an action - You must make a DC 12 Wisdom Save, on a fail take 1d4 psychic damage
- Take an action (or force the target to do nothing) when it would harm them or their bonds - You must make a DC 18 Wisdom save, on a fail take 2d12 psychic damage
- Take an action (or force the target to do nothing) when it is or would reasonably be considered lethal - You must make a DC 30 Wisdom save, on a fail take 6d20 psychic damage; on success reduce the damage by half
- Force an opponent to do something that could reasonably be considered mental torture - take 6d20 psychic damage
Finally, after you roll for damage on the list above, you may choose not to take the chosen course of action. If you don't, the spell ends and the target is immune to its effects for 10 days. If you cannot take the damage without dropping to or below 0 hitpoints, you may choose to take it anyway. If you do, you are killed as a result of your brain rupturing. This death is instant and cannot be reversed, but the target still performs the desired action.
