Barrier of Gold

Using your shield as a focus, this spell allows for a magical barrier to form from the center of your shield. Projectiles cannot pass through it, and melee attacks will be deflected. The barrier extends 5 feet to your left and right, being as tall as the player that casts the spell. 

The caster must continue to hold the shield with both hands while the spell is being cast, and cannot take actions while holding the barrier. Movement speed while holding the barrier is reduced to 5.

You may choose any number of creatures to be immune to this spells damage. Any other creature that touches this barrier will make a CON saving throw equal to the casters spell save DC. On a failed saving throw, they take 3d8 radiant damage, and half as much on a pass.

Casting this spell in a spell slot higher than 3rd will add 1d8 damage.
