You summon twelve prickly shrubs connected to the ground in unoccupied spaces within range, each bristling with lethal thorns. The appearance of the shrubs is decided by you, as long as they are obviously spiked plants.
Each shrub occupies the entirety of a 5-foot cube. For every 1 foot a creature moves through the shrub, it must spend 4 feet of movement. The first time a creature enters a shrub on its turn, or begins its turn in a shrub, it must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d8 piercing damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. Each shrub is an object, with 10 AC and 22 HP. The shrubs are immune to psychic damage.
If the shrubs are planted on a surface unsuitable for plant growth (such as stone or metal) they die after 8 hours. If the shrubs are planted on a natural surface such as dirt or sand, they are permanent until destroyed.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the amount of shrubs increases by two or every spell slot level above 3rd.
* - (Plant matter from a spiked plant such as gorse, blackberry, cactus or nettle)
