Artegan's Taste of Defeat

When you reduce a character to 0 HP that you can see, you may use your reaction to cause that character's tongue to swell and become enveloped in multicolor chaotic energy. If this character is brought back in any way, or if they gain consciousness in any other plane of existence, their tongue briefly becomes swollen and enveloped in the energy once again, and they roll a d4 to determine what effect takes place for 1d4+2 days:

If cast at higher levels, you add 1d4 for the duration of the effect per level:

1 - The character's tongue swells with multicolor energy. The character is no longer able to speak any language, and while they understand any language they once could speak, they learn and can only speak Sylvan for the duration.

2 - The character's tongue swells with black ooze and energy. The character can speak Deep Speech and Draconic, but no other languages. The character can understand Deep Speech, Draconic, and Common, but no other languages. They are resistant to Acid damage, and vulnerable to force damage for the duration. 

3 - The character's tongue swells with blue energy. The character can cast Lightning Bolt as an action once per Long Rest, but is vulnerable to Lightning, Fire, and Radiant damage.

4 - The character's tongue swells with a blinding white energy. Anyone in a 30 ft. radius must make a DC 13 CON Save or be blinded for 1 minute. The character is blinded for the duration, but has blindsight at 30 ft. and doubles their proficiency for Perception and Investigation checks that involve touch or smell.
