The annotations added when the mark is placed are often useful by bankers to denote account numbers or current account balances, such as debts or investments, though this spell has found uses in all manner of non-banking related organizations as well. Militias, guilds, criminal gangs, or governments all find uses for a Banker's Brand from time to time. Some regions might even brand criminals' foreheads upon releasing them back into the population, ensuring their crimes are on display forever. Other regions might have a more developed bureaucratic system and employ spellcasters with this cantrip as official notaries, and no document would be considered valid unless branded.
You can place your personal unique signatory brand on the target object or willing creature, within this mark is room for up to 4 additional annotations, such as words, characters, or numbers, which you may freely choose when applying the mark. This mark is fairly small, fitting inside a 2" radius circle, but is permanent... although, a Banker's Brand on a living creature will be distorted after many years in a manner similar to a tattoo. No two Banker's Brands are ever the same, each is a unique and identifiable mark.
You may not put more than one of your Banker's Brand on the same creature or object. Casting Banker's Brand on a target object or willing creature that is already branded by your unique mark instead allows you to immediately know if that mark is genuine, and it allows you to alter the additional annotations from the earlier casting, replacing them with newly selected words, characters, or numbers.
Example - The Brand could be as follows, with the annotations:
Distinctive squiggle-line inside an egg-like oval with a pale purple splotch background
49,355 Gold
Vault 33
This spell’s number of additional annotations increases by 2 when you reach 5th level (6), 11th level (8), and 17th level (10).
