You magically sow a rumor amongst creatures within range. The rumor is limited to one specific idea, such as "the king and his family are secretly lizardfolk", or "the end of the world is coming in exactly one year".
Creatures are convinced that the rumor is true for the duration, and are compelled to act upon it, though they will not necessarily put themselves in danger. For instance, a bard might a song about the rumor, a thug might vandalize the home of a rumor's target, but a guard will not betray his king without greater cause. After the spell ends, those creatures can be convinced that the rumor is untrue.
Creatures that have an Intelligence score of 13 or higher, or creatures that cannot be charmed, are immune to this spell. You can also designate any number of creatures you know to be immune to this spell's effects when you cast it.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level, the spell's range increases to 5 miles. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 9th level, the range increases to 10 miles.
* - (a collection of papers that allege the rumor you intend to spread, and an embroidered blindfold with at least 500 gp, which the spell consumes)
