This spell creates an undead servant. Choose a corpse of a Large or Medium humanoid within range, or 50 pounds of fresh meat. Your spell imbues the target with a foul mimicry of life, raising it as an undead creature. The target becomes a zombie if you chose a corpse or a flesh golem if you chose meat (the GM has the creature's game statistics).
On each of your turns, you can use a bonus action to mentally command any creature you made with this spell if the creature is within 75 feet of you (if you control multiple creatures, you can command any or all of them at the same time, issuing the same command to each one. You cannot control more than three at the same time, or they will start to decay rapidly). You decide what action the creature will take and where it will move during its next turn, or you can issue a general command, such as to guard a particular chamber or corridor. If you issue no commands, the creature attacks any creature in its line of sight, excluding you.
The creature is under your control for 12 hours, after which it stops obeying any command you've given it, and it is no longer friendly to you. To maintain control of the creature for another 12 hours, you must cast this spell on the creature again before the current 12-hour period ends. This use of the spell reasserts your control over up to three creatures you have animated with this spell, rather than animating a new one.
Additionally. After creating an undead servant, you may choose to complete a ritual lasting one hour. When this ritual is completed, you no longer have to concentrate on the spell, and the servant will stay under your control indefinitely, until it dies. All healing effects will instead harm the servant, and all necromancy-based damage (Such as the Blight spell), will heal the servant. You cannot have more than two servants under this effect at one time. You must complete a long rest before you can start another ritual.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, you animate or reassert control over 1d4 additional undead creatures for each slot level above 6th. Each of the creatures must come from a different corpse or pile of flesh. You cannot reuse materials that were already used for this spell.
