A hand of crystalline water (either freezing or boiling) bursts into a coiling grip around a creature you can see within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target and choose cold of fire damage. On a hit, the target takes 2d6 + 1d8 damage of the type you choose.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 1st.
