Astril Map creates a map of energy that collects information along the journey of the caster.
Starting out it is blank but as you explore the world the map gets more powerful (information) as a result it increases in spell level to summon it by can be summoned at lower levels for less information on the area/location.
The map map you summon is a world map of the planet or Continent/Country (DMs choice) but it has no information on the location you are in, so you must explore, but it has the shape of the land mass you are on.
So you can use an action to see the world but you must use another action to see the place you are in, like zooming in to an image. It will then summon a smaller map for the area to are in, you can get closer to where you are and see yourself self holding the map (it's all 3d like those sci-fi maps). The smaller map in fused on the original map that provides a magnifying zoom in.
That map picks up and stores information in a 250 meter radius around its self. All of the stuff it hold in it is there forever but you can hurt/damage the previously obtained information, by something casting disple magic or by cutting the map. It can still be re-summoned but with certain pices of info taken away (DM chooses the amount lost), it's never a huge chunk taken out of the map but small pices like a street name, a shop or the name of a location but apon further damage it gets way worse. Had the entirety of a town mapped out? Gone. Just like that. Mending work wonders to heal the map a lesson damage. The best way to not increase further damage is to not use the spell for a while roughly 1-2 long rests.
That map will not update in information but only if you go back to the place will is e.g. Went to a shop but it got burned down after you left, the map will show it still there.
When used g the map the user is blinded to the world around them except the map.
For the DMs who use components; A blank scroll and enchanted ink, as long as you have ink the map will record.
