You touch one object that is no larger than 10 feet in any dimension. Until the effect is dispelled, the object sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light for an additional 20 feet. The color of the light is determined at the time of casting and cannot be changed unless the spell is recast. The light behaves as the cantrip Light, and can be blocked by covering it with something opaque.

Casting Continual Light in an area affected by the spell Darkness, or visa versa, requires a DC check against 8 + the opposing spellcaster's modifier. For example, if you have a spellcasting modifier of +6 and cast Continual Light in an area affected by Darkness whose DC is 15 (8 + modifier of 7), you would need to roll a 9 (9+6 = 15) to cancel the Darkness effect. If successful, both the Continual Light and Darkness negate each other. If unsuccessful, your spell fails.

If you target an object held or worn by a hostile creature, that creature must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw to avoid the spell.
