You summon an adventurer, which appears in an unoccupied space that you can see within range. The adventurer disappears when it drops to 0 hit points, when dispelled by the caster, or after 2d4 hours at which point they log off for the night and go to bed.
When the adventurer first appears they suffer the effects of Confusion. The spellcaster must make a successful charisma check to convince the adventurer that this is part of the game, at which point the effect drops and the adventurer is ally to you and your companions for the duration. On a failed check, the adventurer maintains the confusion effect.
You can attempt another charisma check at the beginning of each turn.
Roll initiative for the adventurer, which has its own turns. It obeys any verbal commands that you issue to it (no action required by you). If you don't issue any commands to the adventurer, it defends itself from hostile creatures and attacks hostile creatures.
MAKE AN ADVENTURER STAT BLOCK (maybe make 4? Warrior, Mage, Hunter, Priest)

Posted Nov 21, 2023Hey Adam (and probably also Rob),
First off, love the show - I’m a casual DM myself for a few of my friends, and I’ve unashamedly used VLDL to convince my wife to play in my campaign.
Second, this spell looks like it’ll be perfectly chaotic for Baradun to randomly throw around when the rest of the party least expects.
That said, I’m wondering if maybe the premise of the summoned adventurer being an actual player of the Skycraft video game necessitates a bit more free will on the part of the “player”, potentially beyond what can be simulated by the Confusion effect?
Certainly if I were yanked from whatever quest I was doing, into some other situation, I’d probably want to do more than just survive. I might start out by helping the party in whatever fight they’re in, and then once the baddies are down I’d notice that annoying blacksmith I accidentally sold my gear to, and go attack him. Or maybe (for hilarity) I was in the middle of that quest where I have to rescue sheep for that garlic farmer, and one of his sheep happens to join me when I’m summoned?
I can see this making the spell super complicated, so I’m gonna stop rambling into the void now.
