You enter a contract acting as the Contractor with at least one other willing creature who is the Contractee. During the creation of the contract, you both must create and agree to the terms set in the contract. Both creatures must understand the terms listed and cannot be magically compelled to sign it. At least three terms must be met; an objective, deadline, and punishment. Other terms can be added in for further clarification or additional services. All terms, except for deadlines, can be listed as nothing. Terms may include but are not limited to the following:
- Objective (Mandatory): A task that must be done within the Deadline given. Both parties must agree that said task can or will be completed in the time given.
- Deadline (Mandatory): The allotted time to complete the Objective listed in the contract. By default it is the same time as the spell’s duration but can be changed to be shorter.
- Punishment (Mandatory): These punishments can be different for either party, as well as between different Contractees. The wronged party can invoke the punishment as an Action within the presence of the offending party. The offending party is compelled to submit any agreed upon punishment and cannot do otherwise for 1 hour, after which the contract is void. This may be the relinquishing of property, or submission to other punishments. So long as the offending party has the means to provide it, and the wronged party has the means to take it.
- Collateral: An additional Punishment for unforeseen complications in regards to the Contractee damaging something of value to the Contractor during the contracted period. This may include but is not limited to, property damage, bodily or mental harm, loss or damage to reputation, or any of the previous applying to close family or associates. This punishment can be negotiated after the fulfillment of the contract so long as the term is within it.
- Reward: The Contractor becomes obligated to give a reward to the Contractee for the completion of the Objective within the Deadline. The Contractee may invoke the Reward for the Contractor to be compelled for 1 hour to provide if they are unwilling. This may be a specific item, money, land, etc. So long as the Contractor has the means to provide it. This can also be set at a rate or for partial completions. Under the event of multiple Contractees the method of the distribution of rewards must be explicitly written. Should the Contractor not have the means to provide the agreed upon reward, either an alternative is negotiated, or they become liable to the Punishment.
- Compensation: An additional Reward for unforeseen complications in regards to the Contractee attempting completing the Objective. This may include but is not limited to, property damage, bodily or mental harm, loss or damage to reputation, or any of the previous applying to close family or associates. Alternatively, this reward can be given for completing the Objective in a fashion that was above and beyond what was expected. This reward can be negotiated after the fulfillment of the contract so long as the term is within it.
- Substitution: Upon the event that a Contractor or Contractee may become incapable to fulfill the contract, another creature can take their place. Such events may include but are not limited to injury, illness, or death. A substitute may be written into the contract during its creation, or during a one minute ritual in which the creature transfers responsibility to a willing creature that also understands the contract.
- Restrictions: The Contractee or Contractor may have restrictions placed on them during the contract duration. Such as completing without outside assistance, or maintaining secrecy of the contract. Such restrictions can be explicit or vague in what its parameters entails, so long as they are understood by both Contractor and Contractee. Breaking restrictions can cause the offending party to be liable to Punishment or Collateral depending on the agreement.
Upon success or failure to fulfill the terms of the contract, both parties are notified telepathically. Upon failure the wronged party gains the right and ability to invoke punishment. Should a Contractor intentionally inhibit or impede the Contractee in fulfilling the contract, the contract ends, and the Contractor becomes liable to Punishment.
If either the Contractor or Contractee declines to sign a contract the spell fails. If the Contractor or Contractee dies without a Substitution the spell ends. If the contract is destroyed or dispelled the spell ends without any terms taking effect. If the Contractee is under another magic contract that is in opposition to the one proposed the spell fails. A person can leave a contract without any terms taking effect with the help of a Wish spell, ending the spell.
The magical contract created by the spell is a physical magical item that can be destroyed or dispelled. Upon the creation of the contract, both parties can perfectly recall all the information and terms of the contract so long as it on the same plane as them. Changes to the contract can be done via a ritual which all parties must partake in. Any alterations to the terms aside from substitutions must be made with the physical contract. These changes are also recorded within the contract. The contract cannot be falsified but can be copied using equivalent materials. Upon the destruction of the original document, the copy can be used to maintain the spell. The contract or a copy of it can be use as material components for a divination spell to locate one if the parties involved with the contract.
At Higher Levels When this spell is cast a 4th level or higher the duration of the spell lasts until the contract ends or is dispelled. You may also make the contract on behalf of organizations, though only one person may be compelled; usually the highest authority pertaining to the contract.
