When you cast this spell, you gain a cloak made of a number of magical daggers equal to your spellcasting ability score plus your spellcasting ability modifier. While you are wearing this cloak, when a creature within 5ft of you hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to interpose the cloak between yourself and the attacker. The attacking creature then takes 3d6 piercing damage.
Additionally, as a bonus action on your turn, you can hurl a number of these magical daggers equal to your spellcasting modifier toward a creature within 30 feet of you. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw or take 1d10 piercing damage per dagger your threw on a failed save. On a successful save, the target takes half damage. Whenever you choose to throw daggers at a target, the daggers thrown are subtracted from the total number of daggers in your cloak. You can never throw more daggers than you have remaining in your cloak. The spell ends early if you lose concentration, the spell reaches its maximum duration, or when your cloak contains no more daggers.
When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th or higher, you conjure an additional 5 daggers for each spell slot above 4th.
