Up to 3 humanoids you can see within range must succeed on a Charisma saving throw against your spell save DC or drop what they are holding and swell into grotesque monsters. The monster uses the troll’s statistics, with the following changes:
- The monster does not have the troll’s Regeneration ability.
- The monster cannot speak any languages.
- The monster counts as a monstrosity, rather than a giant.
Alternatively, up to 3 beasts you can see within range must succeed on a Charisma saving throw or mutate into a monster. The monster uses the owlbear’s statistics, except its beak attack is instead called bite.
The monster must use its action to move up to its speed and attack the creature nearest to it. Whenever the monster attacks you or a creature you can see, you can use your reaction to make the attack automatically miss. If no creatures are within range, the monster takes no actions and makes the Charisma saving throw at the end of its turn with advantage. At the end of the monster’s turn, it can repeat the Charisma saving throw to turn back into its original form.

This be fun in a goblin lair.
This seems like a really fun spell. Totally underrated.
