You expel a surge of electrical energy as you burst toward a creature you can see within 30 feet of you and attempt to shove the target. This movement doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks, and you can choose to use your spellcasting ability, instead of Strength, for your Strength (Athletics) check. If your speed is 0 or you are otherwise unable to willingly move when you cast this spell, the spell fails.
On a success, you can choose to either knock the target prone or push it 5 feet away from you, as normal. Whether you succeed or fail, you then teleport back to the space where you began your move in a flash of electricity. Starting at 5th level, this spell can also deal damage to the target, which increases when you reach certain levels. At 5th level, the target takes 1d8 lightning damage if you successfully shove it. This damage roll increases by 1d8 at 11th level (2d8 damage) and again at 17th level (3d8 damage).
