A swarm of flies erupts from a point you choose in range, eager to obey your commands - assuming flies have the capacity for eagerness.
The flies occupy a 10-foot cube, and heavily obscure their area. The swarm of flies is a creature that takes its initiative directly after yours, with 25 hit points and an AC of 10. The type of creature that the swarm falls under is Beast. The swarm can't regain hit points or gain temporary hit points. The flies have no actions, occupy the entirely of any space they are in, and can occupy the space of other creatures. As a bonus action on your turn, you can mentally command the flies to move anywhere within their flying speed of 40 feet. The flies do not have to remain within range of the spell. If not mentally commanded, the swarm of flies stays in place. The swarm has a Dexterity score of 20, a Strength score of 1, a Constitution score of 10, a Wisdom score of 8, an Intelligence score of 1, and a Charisma score of 2. The swarm can move through a gap as small as an inch wide without squeezing.
The swarm does not block attacks - for example, an arrow fired at an Orc inside the swarm is not prevented from reaching the orc even if the swarm of flies is hit and damaged by the arrow. The swarm takes half damage from any source of damage that does not affect an area (e.g. a swipe of a sword, an arrow flying through the air, a firebolt) and takes double damage from any area effect (such as a Thunderwave spell or a dragon's breath attack). The swarm is immune to being Charmed, Frightened, Grappled, Paralyzed, Petrified, Prone, Restrained, or Stunned.
The swarm disappears when the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. When this spell is cast from a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the size of the cube of flies becomes 5 feet wider in every dimension and the swarm's hit point maximum increases by 15 for every slot level above 1st.
