You create a one-inch long bombardier beetle that moves at 15 ft. per round. The beetle is a creation of magical force, but has the normal colours of a bombardier beetle. The beetle shares your initatitive count but takes its turn immediately after yours. If the caster created 2 or more beetles, the beetles take their turn as a group, and the caster chooses the order of beetles.
As long as the caster and beetle are within 600 ft. of each other, and the caster can mentally command the beetle (no action required). The beetle cannot attack, but can perform all other generic actions. The beetle is difficult to spot, imposing disadvantage on all other creature's perception checks to locate the beetle, and the DC for the check is your spell save DC.
The caster can use either a bonus action or a reaction to detonate the beetle. The beetle jumps to a space within 5 ft. of itself, and deals 4d10 + your spellcasting ability modifier acid damage to all creatures and objects within 5 ft. of the space. The beetle is then dispelled immediately.
At higher levels. When you cast this spell with a slot of 5th level or higher, you create 1 additional beetle per slot above the 4th.
