You issue verbal commands to a length of rope, cord, vine, light chain, or similar material within range. When you cast this spell and as a bonus action on later rounds, you can issue one of the following commands, and the rope moves up to 50 feet and attempts to follow the order.
- Bind: The rope tightly binds an unconscious creature and ties a secure knot.
- Climb: The rope scales a tree, cliff, or other rough surface and ties a secure knot at the upper end, to provide a climbing rope for you and your allies.
- Coil: The rope winds into a neat coil.
- Drag: A creature grappled by the rope is moved up to 20 feet. If the creature is not also restrained, it can resist this movement with a successful Strength save.
- Free: The rope releases any tied knots or bindings and releases any held creatures.
- Grab: A Large or smaller creature adjacent to the rope must roll a Strength or Dexterity saving throw or be grappled by the rope. If the creature is already grappling when this order is issued, the creature instead becomes restrained.
- Trip: A Large or smaller creature within 10 feet of the rope must roll a Dexterity save or become prone.
The rope can only perform one task at a time - For example, if tied off for climbing, it must first be directed to free itself, and then can be directed to bind a creature.
