You perform a special religious ceremony that is infused with magic. When you cast the spell, choose one of the following rites, the target of which must be within 10 feet of you throughout the casting.
Arkay's Grace: This blessing is bestowed between birth and the first year of life to protect the souls of the innocent until they can exercise their own volition. For eight years, the child cannot be reanimated as undead or have its soul consumed to fuel a necromantic spell.
Arkay's Blessing: Last Rites of Arkay, bestowed upon the dying to prevent their souls from being used without consent. A life-draining necromantic spell or ability cannot target the dying person for seven days. This has no effect on a healthy person who is not progressing through the stages of imminent death.
Arkay's Law: Bestowed upon the deceased to prevent their corporeal forms from being raised in unlawful servitude. For seven days, the recipient cannot be the target of a necromantic spell or the ability to reanimate or raise the dead. This gives ample time to either bury, burn, or inter the corpse so that it is no longer the easy target of the wretched that would enslave them in unnatural servitude.
