You hide a small coin purse and all its contents, on the Ethereal Plane. You must touch the pouch and the miniature replica that serves as a material component for the spell. The pouch can contain a little bit less than 1/3 of a cubic foot nonliving material. Specifically, the pouch is exactly (8 inches by 8 inches x 8 inches). The objects can weigh no more than 6 lbs. This increases as you level up. Typically the pouch has a drawstring, and a small rope or chain can be threaded through the replica's drawstrings, allowing you to wear it as jewelry.
Note, this is NOT a bag of holding, as such you can put the replica in one. While coins and gems are the most common thing to use, you can put other objects into the pouch. You can even put sharp objects in the pouch as the contents of the pouch will not move or harm it on the ethereal plane. Most weapons are longer than 8 inches, but if you spend time and money (DM discretion), you should be able to find a dagger, darts, slings, a net, sling bullets, a whip, and blowgun needles that fit in your pouch.
While the pouch remains on the Ethereal Plane, you can use an action and touch the replica to recall the pouch. It appears in your hand. This ends the spell. It also reappears after 8 hours, and the spell ends.
Finally, if the replica is dispelled, if you cast this spell again, or if the smaller replica chest is destroyed, the spell ends - but leaves the pouch on the Ethereal plane, irretrievably lost.
At Higher Levels:
The pouch can be exchanged for a larger one, costing you an additional 1 gp to replace the replica, at levels 5, 11 and 17. At 5th level, the pouch can contain 1 cubic ft of material, 1 ft, x 1ft x 1ft, weighing no more than 9 lbs. At 11th level, it increases to 2 cubic ft of material, no more than 2 ft x 1 ft x 1ft, weighing no more than 15 lbs. At 17th level, it increases to 4 cubic ft of material, no more than 4 ft x 1ft x 1ft, weighing no more than 20 lbs.
Simple Light weapons are typically between 1 and 2 ft long, but if you search you can find them just under 1ft. (DM discretion) Arrows are about 1.5 ft long. Short swords are typically between 2 ft and 3 ft, bit again with some searching you can find one just under 2ft long. Versatile, two handed, heavy or reach weapons are longer than 4 ft (the whip of course, is the main exception). Most other weapons tends to be over 2 ft long, but under 4 ft.
* - (A coin purse and a small silver replica of it, worth at least 1 gp. Neither are consumed by the casting of this spell.)
