Entropic energy washes over an item, object, or construct of your choice that you can see within range, accelerating the processes of decay that would naturally affect the materials of the item. If the target is a construct, the target must make a Constitution saving throw. If the target is being held or carried by a creature, the creature holding the item makes this Constitution saving throw instead. The target takes 6d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Unattended objects and items are damaged slightly differently, with the damage dealt reducing the target's Damage Threshold (if any), then Armor Class, then Hit points.
Damage dealt from this spell takes the form of natural decay for the targeted item. Metal objects targeted by this spell rust, wood rots, and stone becomes pocked and crumbles.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 4th.
