A wall of floating words springs into existence at a point you choose within range. The text of this wall is the color used in the material component and it glows dimly out to 5 feet. The wall appears in any orientation you choose, as a horizontal or vertical barrier or at an angle. It can be free floating or resting on a solid surface. You can form it into any shape with a surface area of 100 feet squared so long as the width nor the length exceed 10 feet. The wall is always 1/4 inch thick. If the wall cuts through a creature's space when it appears, the creature is pushed to one side of the wall (your choice which side). It lasts for the duration. It can be dismissed as an action.

The wall is immune to all damage and extends into the Ethereal Plane, blocking ethereal travel through the wall.

Any creature that can understand written language can read the message on the wall. Creatures which can read the message on the wall cannot pass through the wall, nor can they move anything through the wall. When you cast the spell, you can designate creatures unaffected by the wall's movement restriction. It can be specific creatures or a category of creatures.

A creature within 10 feet of the wall can read the message written on it aloud at a rate of 20 words per action. Once the message is fully read, the creature is immune to the effects of the spell for 1 round. Magical silence - as from a silence spell - prevents the reading action from taking effect. If the creature is interupted while reading the text, such as being the target of an attack or choosing to stop, the creature must make an Intelligence saving throw against the spellcaster's spell save DC. If they fail, they become stunned for 1 minute or until a creature uses their action to end the condition. After the save - regardless of if they pass or fail - e creature must read the message from the beginning.

A creature may determine that reading the wall will allow them to pass if they make a Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Insight) check against the spellcaster's spell save DC. The creature has advantage on this check if it has seen a creature read the text and then pass through the wall.

The number of words in the message is determined by the table below.

At higher levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the side lengths increase by 5 feet each, and the surface area increases by 25 feet squared.

If this spell is cast as a ritual, the spellcaster can double the maximum amount of words written in the message of the wall. If a spell slot of at least 7th level was used to cast this spell, or if the spell was cast as a ritual at at least 5th level, the wall cannot be dispelled by spells such as dispel magic cast below 9th level.
