Chromatic Cataclysm, a spell of wondrous versatility and awe-inspiring potency, materializes as a mesmerizing orb of polychromatic brilliance. As the caster weaves a tapestry of arcane symbols, the air crackles with energy, and the space before them shimmers with a kaleidoscope of hues, each representing a different destructive force.
Within that sphere of power, the caster relishes the moment of decision, for it is the choice that will shape the very essence of their unleashed devastation. Each damage type beckons like a siren, tempting the caster with its unique brand of destruction. With a delighted grin, the caster's eyes dance between the options, anticipating the magnitude of chaos that will soon be unleashed.
Should they choose acid, it would be like a corrosive symphony, melting away all in its path, leaving nothing but dissolving remnants in its wake. The sheer potency of the burning liquid would erode even the sturdiest defenses, leaving behind a trail of obliterated structures and armor reduced to twisted remnants.
If the caster opts for cold, the air around them would turn frigid, and their heart would quicken with excitement as they envision the blast transforming the world into a frozen expanse. The shimmering frost would crystallize upon impact, leaving the landscape locked in a glistening and treacherous embrace.
The allure of fire beckons with its wild dance of destruction. The caster can almost taste the scorching flames in their mind, envisioning the inferno licking at everything it encounters, leaving a wake of smoldering ruin in its path. A wave of unbridled heat and fury surges through them at the thought of the conflagration.
Lightning, with its electrifying allure, sparks the caster's imagination with images of bolts dancing across the heavens. The thrill of watching the crackling energy surge forth in a jagged line, obliterating anything caught in its path, resonates within them like the heartbeat of a tempest.
Toying with the idea of poison, the caster envisions a sinister cloud that seeps into every crevice, a malevolent venom that corrupts and corrodes all it touches. The thought of witnessing their foes succumbing to the creeping lethality delights the dark corners of the caster's soul.
Radiant magic calls forth visions of divine judgment. The caster's heart swells with righteous power at the prospect of unleashing a torrent of divine light, purging darkness and malevolence with every searing beam that engulfs the landscape.
Finally, the allure of force magic entices the caster's mind. A concussive burst of raw power, able to obliterate barriers and send foes hurtling through the air like mere playthings. The thrill of watching sheer impact shatter everything in its path sings in the caster's veins.
Once the decision is made, the polychromatic orb becomes a harbinger of destruction, hovering before the caster like a star of destruction eager to be unleashed. When the time comes, they release the spell's raw might, and from the orb emerges a colossal, 300-foot line of devastation—pure, unyielding chaos born of their chosen magic type.
The world is forever changed in the aftermath, marked by the sheer scale of destruction. The caster, still exhilarated from wielding such power, can hold the orb with concentration, savoring the anticipation of each strike, knowing they wield the force of nature itself in the palm of their hand. For five minutes, they are the architect of a fantastical apocalypse, the maestro of a symphony of devastation that reverberates through time.
The Caster must make a concentration check in order to maintain the orb past the five minute mark, one successful concentration check gives another minute, but upon a fail the orb has the chance to backfire and destroy the very caster and all in the vicinity
The spell does 48d6 (168) of the chosen damage type
When cast at a higher level, the spell lasts an extra minute (level 5 casting lasts for six minutes), all the way to 9th level (you could go as far as 13th technically but that's a little overkill) for a maximum of 10 minutes.
