A flame, equivalent in brightness to a torch, springs forth from an object that you touch. The effect looks like a regular flame, but it creates no heat and doesn't use oxygen. A continual flame can be covered or hidden but not smothered or quenched.

Posted Jul 24, 2026Hallow does a little bit more than just counteracting darkness. That's not even one of the main features. For two spell levels diffrence, just a small fraction of the effect of Hallow is reasonable, I think.
I'm of the opinion that it has to count as 3rd level, otherwise some other upcasting interactions also fall apart. Like upcast Teleport (another spell with no additional upcase feature) vs Counterspell.
