You unleash an explosion of crimson fog that quickly envelops you and all creatures within a 40 sphere around you. This fog heavily obscures the area, and lingers for 1d4 rounds before starting to disperse as would a normal fog cloud spell. Any creature that you choose within the area when you cast a spell must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it is paralyzed, as it begins to harden into a glass statue. On a successful save, the creature isn't affected. Creatures that breathe air (or can breathe air/oxygen, or use lungs for breathing) make this save with disadvantage, as the crimson fog invades the creatures bodies.
A creature paralyzed by this spell must make another Constitution saving throw at the end of each of its turns. If it successfully saves against this spell three times, the spell ends. If it fails its saves three times, it is turned to glass and subjected to the petrified condition for the duration. The successes and failures don't need to be consecutive; keep track of both until the target collects three of a kind.
If the creature is physically broken while petrified, it suffers from similar deformities if it reverts to its original state. If you maintain your concentration on this spell for the entire possible duration, the creature is turned to glass until the effect is removed.
Cameron the Clairvoyant loved fog, and wanted to create a spell that would garner much attention when used. This spell has ended many armies, orc hoards and goblin caves.
