Damage/Effect

The next time you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack before this spell ends, or channel your magic:

Bring forth your vow or patron's power to reality, and change yourself with it, the caster's appearance changes to be more similar to the oaths origin A creature within range finds itself within a space of the power's domain. Such as a temple dedicated to a god, whereas a patronless oath might manifest as an important place for said oath with its values pressing on the creature as if a physical force. The creature must succeed on a saving throw of the spells spellcasting ability or take 14d6 damage fitting your deity/oath, on a successful save the target takes half damage. The damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above first. As an action on your following turns you may deal this damage again but the affected creature gets to remake the save, on a success the effect ends and the creature is immune to the effects of the spell for 24 hours.

Manifesting a deity or even the essence of your oath is not without cost. You take a third of the damage dealt as force damage as your body reels from the exertion, rounded up. If this damage would be over two-thirds of your maximum hitpoints you may not cast it again until after a long rest. If this damage would reduce your hit points to 0 you instead gain 5 levels of exhaustion and are left on one hit-point, if you die while having these stacks your patron claims your soul forever, and reviving you only brings back a thrall, devoid of any personality unless the deity involves. If the faith was a patronless oath then you instead become bound to it like never before. Acting against the oath causes you to take 5d10 psychic damage.

The spells potency increases when you reach higher levels. It deals 17d6 damage at level 7, 20d6 at level 13, and 20d12 damage at level 17. You may also choose to roll half the amount of d12s when possible instead of d6s.

If instead cast as a ritual you may only target yourself and you then receive your deity/oaths stance on an undertaking of yours, this is purely if it is in accordance to their wishes and is not indicative of the outcome.

If the target shares your faith this spell can only ever bring them down to 1 hit point.

The spell is available by default to warlocks, clerics, and paladins though any with a faith may learn it by either devoting yourself to an oath or communing with the faith's deity, your spellcasting ability is your class' primary ability. If you were to leave said faith you will no longer be able to use the spell though the deity may still contact you through it, whether for good or ill.
