This spell lets you convince a beast that you mean it no harm. Choose a beast that you can see within range. It must be able to see and hear you. If the beast's Intelligence is 4 or higher, the spell fails. You must keep contact with the beast for the casting time of the spell otherwise the spell fails. Otherwise, the beast must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by you for the spell's duration, once the spell reaches its end the beast must make another wisdom save or be permanently charmed by you. The target beast can make additional wisdom saves every day it is under the spells effect. If you or one of your companions harms the target, the spell ends.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4nd level or higher, you can reduce the time the beast needs to remain charmed before it is permanently friendly to you by 24 hours for every 2 spell slots used above 2nd level.
