From a point that you can see, you summon a thick thorny vine from the earth that grapples one creature within range. Make a melee spell attack against that target. On a successful hit, the target takes 4d10 Bludgeoning damage and must make a Strength saving throw or become Grappled. Upon a failed save, the target is also Restrained as it is pulled beneath the earth. While underground, the target cannot see, hear, breathe and speak.
Every minute that passes, the target can make a Strength check against your spell save DC with disadvantage. On a success, it frees itself and pops out of the earth.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, an additional vine is summoned and an additional target can be targeted for each slot level above 5th. The damage also increases by 1d10 for each slot above 5th.
