Black-Flame Smite

As part of this spell, you make a melee attack with a weapon as flame as black as coal roars across the blade. If you hit with the attack, the opponent takes 2d4 fire damage in addition to your weapon damage. On your next turn, as the fire reaches its height, the creature takes 2d4 fire damage and the fire is extinguished.

If you do not hit, the spell fails.

If you cast this spell at higher spell levels, the damage goes up by 1d4. A 2nd level spell slot would deal 3d4 base damage, as well as the 2d4 damage as the fire was extinguished.
