“Some people might not know this, but static electricity can’t actually hurt you. The most it can do is give you a little shock- but with some divine assistance and a bit of creativity, it can suddenly do a whole lot more harm.” - Arlus Licht, being asked about the spells he pioneered in an interview
You take the tuft of black wool in your hands and rub it vigorously, generating a dangerous static charge. You then touch one melee weapon. The next attack made with that weapon deals an extra 4d4 lightning damage, and transfers the charge to the targeted creature. At the end of each of that creature’s turns for the next minute, it must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 4d4 lightning damage again on a failed save or half as much on a success. If the affected creature hits another creature that has not held the charge with a melee attack, the charge jumps to that creature, dealing 2d4 lightning damage. This process repeats until the minute passes or the charge has been passed a total of 6 times.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage dealt increases by 1d4 and the number of times the charge can be passed increases by 1 per level above 3rd.
