The player selects a creature within 60 feet that she can see. Her light up strings surge forward, weaving themselves into a deadly lattice of ethereal blades that pierce and slice the target. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw.
On a failed save, the target takes 7d8 Necrotic damage as the ethereal strings slice through their flesh and bone. On a successful save, the target takes half damage
If the attack is a hit the ethereal strings are partially embedded within their body. These strings persist for a brief duration, causing additional damage. At the start of each of the target's turns for the next minute, they take 1d8 Necrotic damage until the ethereal strings fade away. The target can use an action to attempt to remove the embedded strings, requiring a successful Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC.
At Higher Levels: When cast using a 7th-level spell slot or higher, the initial slashing damage inflicted by Bladestring Incision and the lingering damage is increased by 1d8 for each slot level above 6th.
