Black-Barbed Shield

Summon forth a shield of twisting black brambles to protect the caster from harm. The target gains +2 to AC for the duration of the spell, and any creature that attacks the caster with a melee attack suffers 1d6 points of piercing damage from black barbs every time it successfully hits the caster.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.
