You invoke the blessing of Vaelin, the God of Magic, to protect a creature from harmful magical effects. When you cast this spell, touch a willing creature, imbuing them with a magical aura.
While under the effect of Vaelin's Blessing, the target gains the following benefits:
-
Magic Resistance: The target has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
-
Counterspell Affinity: Once during the spell's duration, when the target is the target of a spell that requires a saving throw, they can use their reaction to attempt to counter the spell. The target must make an ability check using their spellcasting ability (Charisma for warlocks, Intelligence for wizards, etc.) with a DC equal to 10 + the spell's level. On a success, the spell fails to affect the target, and its effects are negated. If the spell is of 4th level or higher, the DC is increased by 2 for each level above 3rd.
-
Arcane Ward: The target gains temporary hit points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier (minimum of 1) at the start of their turn, as long as they maintain concentration on this spell.
Once the target uses its Counterspell Affinity feature or loses concentration, the spell ends.
