Upon casting Abyssal Hookshot, the caster summons a shadowy, blackened version of a spear. This spear is a hybrid of conjured and evoked magic, enabling unique interactions with both melee and ranged attacks.
-
Melee Attack: When the caster uses the summoned spear in melee combat, the weapon mysteriously evaporates into a misty black smoke after the attack, making it not completely fit for melee combat.
-
Ranged Attack: If the caster decides to throw the spear, it follows a unique trajectory due to the black wire tied to the handle. This wire, repelling away from the caster's hand, creates a terrible shrill sound as the spear is launched through the air. If the thrown spear hits a target, they must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC Saving Throw) to avoid being struck by the repelling wire. If the wire hits the target, it deals an additional 1d6 piercing damage.
-
Barbed Wire Entanglement: If the target fails the Dexterity saving throw and the wire hits them, they become entangled by the barbed wire. To escape, the target must make a Strength saving throw (DC Saving Throw) at the start of their turn. On a failed save, they take an additional 1d6 piercing damage as the wire tightens, and the DC for the Strength saving throw decreases by 1 as the wire unravels slightly. A successful save allows the target to break free from the wire.
