The target creature must succeed on a WIS saving throw or become afflicted by the Dark Presence.

When under its effects, the target's eyes become pitch black and it becomes hostile to those not afflicted by Dark Presence themselves.

The creature’s INT and CHA scores become 1. The creature can’t cast spells, activate magic items, understand language, or communicate in any intelligible way. It also gains the following condition immunities: charmed, exhaustion, frightened, and poisoned.

The target gains 5 temporary hit points and acquires the following effects until either the temporary hit points are exhausted, the target is exposed to sunlight, or the spell ends. These effects are cumulatively referred to as the "Dark Shroud":

- The target has immunity to all damage except Radiant and Fire

- The target becomes wreathed in swirling, smoke-like shadows, and is treated as if it is under the effects of the Blur spell. For the duration, any creature has disadvantage on attack rolls against you. An attacker is immune to this effect if it doesn’t rely on sight, as with blindsight, or can see through illusions, as with truesight. These shadows also turn bright light within 10 feet of the target into dim light.

 - The target gains darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.

A Remove Curse, Greater Restoration, or Wish spell removes Dark Presence from the affected area permanently. Radiant or Large Fire light can dispel it from any individual located within.
