You create a burning, green-and-gold specter of a Goldfinch in the space of a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the creature to assail it with passion and fairy-fire. On a hit, the target takes 1d8 fire damage, and it can't regain hit points until the start of your next turn. Until then, the burning bird clings to the target, and usually somewhere on their body that would be most painful--or at the very least, somewhere severely inconvenient.

If you hit an evil-aligned, fey creature with this spell, they also have disadvantage on attack rolls against you until the end of your next turn.

Additionally, if your target is an evil-aligned fey--and they are willing and able to take a long rest on the first night following the combat encounter--they have a 15% chance of experiencing debilitating night terrors in which they are relentlessly pursued by a horde of rabid Goldfinches.  Your DM rolls a d100 to determine whether or not this is the case, and on a roll of 1-15, the target receives none of the benefits of a long rest, and instead takes a point of exhaustion.
