Red thorny vines sprout from the ground wrapping around a single creature of size Large or smaller, within range.
As the vines wrap around the creature, the thorns begin digging into its body dealing 1d6 piercing damage and the creature must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be restrained by the entangling vines until the spell ends.
A creature restrained by the plants can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, it frees itself and on a failure it suffers an additional 1d6 points of damage.
Any time a creature restrained by this spell takes damage from another attack or effect, the vines grow and dig into the fresh wound causing an additional 1 point of piercing damage.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the initial damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st and the additional damage suffered because of fresh wounds increases by 1 for each slot level above 1st.
