You create a shimmering wall of madness on a solid surface within range. You can make the wall up to 60 feet long, 20 feet high, and 1 foot thick. The wall is opaque and lasts for the duration.
When a creature enters the wall's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, the creature must make an Intelligence saving throw. On a failed save, the creature take 2d6 psychic damage and roll a d6 to determine the effect:
- Confusion: The creature is confused (as per the confusion spell) until the start of its next turn.
- Dementia: The creature can't remember anything about its last turn and must use its action this turn to repeat the action it took on its last turn.
- Hallucinations: The creature sees and hears things that aren't there, causing it to have disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks until the start of its next turn.
- Paranoia: The creature becomes convinced that all other creatures are out to get it, causing it to have disadvantage on saving throws until the start of its next turn.
- Amnesia: The creature forgets all spells and abilities it knows until the start of its next turn.
- Insanity: The DM chooses two effects from this list; the creature is affected by both.
On a successful save, the creature takes half as much psychic damage and suffers no additional effect.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 8th level or higher, increase the damage by 1d6 for each slot level above 7th.
