A horizontal 10ft square opens on a point within range to show the whipping winds of a terrible blizzard. A barrage of snowballs is hurled from the opening that rains straight down. The snowballs impact only the first creature/object in each 5-ft squares. Every creature in the effected area must succeed a Dexterity Saving Throw or take 3d6 cold damage, taking half as much on a success.
Every 20ft above the target the blizzard opening is cast, the following effects occur:
- The target gains a +2 to their Saving Throw
- The target takes an additional 1d6 of bludgeoning damage (not affected by higher levels)
If a target's roll exceeds the Save DC by 7 or more, they can use a reaction to catch a snowball and throw it at a target within 20ft. The attacker makes a ranged improvised weapon attack (no Prof Bonus unless GM declares it as possible in accordance with a character's background). If the attack hits, the target takes 1d8 cold damage.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the range can increase by 10ft for each slot level above 2nd.
If cast as a ritual, creates harmless snowballs for 10d4 people.
