You can see and hear a particular creature you choose that is on a plane that overlaps with the Etheral Plane. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. If a target knows you're casting this spell, it can fail the saving throw voluntarily if it wants to be observed.
On a successful save, the target isn't affected, and you can't use this spell against it again for 12 hours.
On a failed save, the spell creates a sensor within 15 feet of the target in the Border Etheral. The sensor can be seen by creatures in the Etheral Plane and creatures who cn see into the Border Etheral as a glowing white orb with a diameter of 1 foot. The sensor is immune to all damage and cannot be destroyed by any means short of a Wish spell. You can generally control the sensor's movement, but it can never be more than 20 feet away from the target. The sensor's movement speed is the target's fastest speed + 5.
You are aware of both your own surroundings and the sensor's. If you are incapitated, the sensor moves with the target. Although the sensor is techinically in the Border Etheral, it sees the plane it is bordering as clearly as if it was in it.
Instead of targeting a creature, you can choose a location you know exists as the target of this spell. When you do, the sensor appears at that location in the Border Etheral and doesn't move.
